Hello people!
We hope that you have known and understand more about Singapore through our posts. As you can see, Singapore has a rich history in arts, heritage and culture. From our previous posts, you get to see the beautiful scenery taken from Clarke Quay, Esplanade, Merlion Park, Chinatown, as well as the interesting Asian Civilisation Museum.
Through the trips that we have conducted, we have learnt more about Singapore through a fun way! We also get to discover more about our arts, heritage and culture which we previously did not know. For example, we get to know that Chinatown not only have delicious food but it is also an amazing place filled with rich aroma of the Chinese traditions and cultures.
The second example would be Clarke Quay. It is a place not only filled with pubs and restaurants, but also a wonderful destination to visit for an exciting nightlife and also to indulge and be mesmerised in beautiful skyline of Singapore. Not far from there, you can also see our magnificent Singapore Flyer turning at a slow pace in the silent night.
After those exciting trips, we have a better understanding of our roots which are important to everyone. We are glad that Singapore still has such heritage centres and museum which brings back beautiful memories of the past. If you are thinking of a destination to visit this holiday, make Singapore as your first choice! We assure that you will enjoy yourself in this unique and interesting country!

Are you a huge fan of durians? Or do you belong to the group of people who will show their disgust immediately upon seeing the large, formidable thorn-covered husk? Today, no matter which group you belong to, we will be showing you a brand new "durian" in Singapore which definitely allows you to experience a totally different impression and feeling towards durians.
Everyone, welcome to Singapore's very own "durian" - The Esplanade. The building was designed by both DP Architects (DPA) of Singapore and the London-based Michael Wilford & Partners (MWP) and it was officially opened on 12 October 2002. The purpose-built building is to serve as the centre for performing arts for our very own country and we will be more than delighted to have people from all over the world to come to Esplanade and share their interests in arts with us!
It is usually crowded with people from Friday evening to Sunday evening, especially when there are performances in the recital or concert halls or events happening in the outdoor theatre! You can check out the programme/event lists for the week/month at the Esplanade main website! Christimas is coming and do anticipate a lot of exciting and fabulous christmas carollings and performances put up by people from different countries and schools! Don't miss it if not you will have to wait for another year!
Someone then mentioned upon seeing the beautiful Merlion: 'Why Singaporeans are fined when they spit? Look at the Merlion! It is spiting everyday and it never got fined!'
And then the Merlion spit into Xiaoxuan's mouth! =p
The view was magnificent as we stood next to the Merlion. We can see the huge durian-like structure, The Esplanade and the world's biggest observatory wheel, The Flyer from where we were standing. Many tourists were taking photos at the platform next to The Merlion as a way of saying that " I have been to Singapore! ".
So have u taken a photo with our Merlion? If not, come down to the Merlion Park and witness the scenic view of the Marina Bay ( undergoing construction to make way for the Marina Bay Sands in 2009) , the Esplanade and the Flyer! Hope it will be your turn to say " I have been to Singapore!!!"

Once we alighted from City Hall Mrt Station, we just needed to take a 10 minutes walk in the Citylink before reaching Esplanade as it was just a stone throw away. We were embraced by the arts & culture even before we reach our destination. Along the pass way towards Esplanade, we can see a number of displays of abstract art works by our local artists.

Famous performances that like the Forbidden City: Portrait of an Empress; Cabaret; The talented successful Spanish-English crossover artist José Feliciano's music concert; The Feast of Han Xizai (accompanied by the internationally-acclaimed Han Tang Yuefu Ensemble );award-winning musical Avenue Q and many more have appeared in Esplanade theatre and concert halls in the past and current years!
There's also a library in the Esplanade, Level 3 where it mainly contains music books ( piano scores and lyrics) , magazines, dvds/cds and even famous singers' biographies. A few months back then, the cafe in the library is opened to public who are interested in showcasing their music talent such as singing, playing guitar/keyboard/flute/violin etc. It has attracted a number of youths and even foreigners to participate in the Open Mic event every friday night!
After spending a long time exploring the Esplanade, we strolled towards the iconic symbol of Singapore: The Merlion park! It is situated just opposite The Fullerton Hotel, which was being voted as the top hotel in Asia by Conde Nast Travellers readers in October 2006.

At the end of the day, we were so tired and hungry that we settled down at the Gelare Cafe and ordered a Mini Feast Sundae! The 5 of us gobbled up the ice creams and cookies and concluded our trip of the day with that satisfactory delicious dessert!
